Prompts 2 & 3

Journal Prompt 2:  I am a huge fan of writing out my goals, short term and long term.  I thought it would be appropriate to have some journaling goals for ourselves too!!  What are your goals for your journaling?

My Journal Goals:
  • To learn a new craft and not compare my journal with others
  • To teach myself to consistently journal
  • To push myself to creatively think outside the box, even when I don't feel like journaling

Journal Prompt:  Today is all about altering a repeat image :)  Copy an image, or images, multiple times using a copy machine, or scanner and print the images in black and white.  Use different writing tools to alter your images in many different styles.  (If you don't have access to a copier of any kind, alter images from a magazine or old pictures, do it your way and it will be awesome).

I'm having fun! Sorry for the horrible pics!
When I have time, I will get better images!

Almost done with prompt 4. I have the design, just need to finish the execution!

    Good night.

    Finally

Finally made the ginger lemonade. The rents say it's a success, I think it could be more gingery!
Have to catch up on journaling.
Also, maybe on Sunday I'll make the cheesecake and whoopie pies...

On a good note! I rode my bike.
On a bad note, the bike had a flat tire (i just bought it!)
Had to get the tubing replaced at a local bike shop I rode to.
They suggested I take the bike back.
But I can't afford one of their sweet bikes!
    What do I do??

This weekend is going to be so busy.
I will give you an update later tonight on my journal and maybe a recap on Sunday!

    Here is my interpretation.

I have yet to make a cover. I'm waiting on this sticker!
Made by the lovely Courtney over at you will won't you.

    Days Like Yesterday

Yesterday was the worst/best day ever!
I got to help out with the 2010 National Special Olympics held in Lincoln, NE.
(Side note: Yes, I live in Nebraska)

Let me first say, the athletes were amazing. Each and everyone of them. Tears are welling in my eyes thinking about them, and how much I miss them.
I could see doing something like that for a living.
It was one of the top-ten experiences of my life!

Why was a the worst/best day?
Because everything that could go wrong did.
But, all those wrong things, minus one were made right or as right as they could.
I don't feel like going into much detail but email me lmwilliams2009(at)gmail(dot)com if you want to know the scoop.

I feel like my life keeps filling up. House/dog sitting this weekend. One week till Kristy's wedding. Super excited about that! (I'm a bridesmaid).

Haven't felt like blogging recently, but, I'm pushing through that! Maybe one day I'll have time to start working on my goals! That would be great!

    BTdubs... I want these shoes
They're from Payless! I might have to go try those on today.

Ack... My list of things to do is haunting me:
    1) Return library books
    2) Talk to my new boss
    3) Clean out car
    4) Straighten Room (it's not that messy, but it's getting on my nerves)
    5) Clean restroom (brother's in town and it's hard to keep it clean)
    6) Laundry (this is something that can't be overlooked anymore)

Plus, I have a two, possibly three meetings this afternoon and a lunch date (Happy Birthday, Abigail!)
    And, maybe even miniature golfing!

Ok, I need to get back to work. Just felt like I needed to give an update...
I thought it would be quick. Sorry!

    Have a wonderful Thursday.
    Tomorrow's Friday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    19 July 2010

    It's Monday Already!!

    Dear Blog Readers,
I can't believe it's Monday already! So much to do, so much to do. All weekend I have had horrendous back pains and I think it's time to finally go to a chiropractor. My mom says I should go to a physical therapist, but that would mean homework.

I didn't make my whoopie pies, lemonade, or cheese cake this weekend. But, I did get a lot of rest! Which is a good thing! I have a lot happening this week, so if my posts are a little light, I apologize in advance!

    Procrastinating Part 1

Today has been one of the laziest Saturday's in months. I should feel guilty, I should at least work on some crafting, but why is it I feel so lazy?

I thought I would let you know some of my projects and goals I have.

    READING
I have a lot of books I'd like to read and I even have a google doc devoted to my reading lists, besides the numerous social media sites devoted to books.
Here are the books I'm currently reading:
    1. Emma on Kindle
    2. To Kill a Mockingbird
    3. The Captive Bride
    4. Crazy Love
    5. The Pursuit of Love

I am subscribed to 11 magazines (was 12 magazines ELLE is over) and I am so behind.
Instead of trying to catch up. I'm going to read all the July issues and then read the oldest issues of each magazine.
    1. allure - July
    2. Glamour - July
    3. Instyle - July
    4. marie claire - July
    5. neue - Spring
    6. Nylon - June/July
    7. ReadyMade - June/July
    8. Real Simple - July
    9. Relevant - July/Aug
    10. RollingStone - July 8-22
    11. Shape - July
    *insert pic*

Plus I need to catch up... here are the current issues I'm catching up on:
    1. Elle - Feb
    2. Nylon - Feb
    3. Real Simple - Feb
    4. Relevant - Jan/Feb
    5. Shape - Feb
    also
    6. marie claire - March
    *insert pics*

The rest are sorted into months... I have  a lot of reading to do!

    Watching
There is no cable in the house, so I rely on network websites, hulu, and Netflix.
    Currently watching:
    1. Pretty Little Liars
    2. Hawthorne
    3. Pysch

    Netflix:
Online - The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo (Warning: very graphic)
Mail - To Kill a Mockingbird

    Sewing
I've had the materials to make this skirt since Nov... I just need to make it!

I just need to hand sew the bottom of a pair of jean shorts I converted from jeans.

I have all these beautiful fabrics, purchased with intentions to make dresses.
I just need to do some deep searching to find patterns I like.

I really want to participate in this class... Home Ec: Online Sewing Class for Beginners
Image courtesy of Smile and Wave
I just need to save up for it! $60  :(

    Crafting
I need to re-teach myself knitting. I can knit, but that's the only stitch I can do.
There is also crocheting. I can chain... :(
I need to get some beginner books from the library that are really basic and peruse youtube for some good how-to's.

    Fitness
I really need to get my butt into gear and ignore the heat so I can go on my runs and ride my bike.
I am currently on the couch-2-5k-plan...
But, I just can't seem to commit. It needs to be an everyday occurrence and not just a once in awhile thing.
Also, I have this gym membership and a personal trainer that I haven't taken advantage of since the beginning of this year. I need to get right on that. I need to lose about 45-50lbs.
    Goals:
    1. Finish the Couch 2 5K Plan
    2. Ride my bike for at least 5 hours a week
    3. Get in some type of strength training
    4. Lose 5lbs a month
    5. Be ready for cruise in December
I think I'll have some sort of count down and goal, instead of procrastinating.

    Awesome Blog Giveaway

    Super excited about this!!

    Biking and Blogging

I was going to go for a bike ride, but alas, it is still too hot.
So, I thought, why not blog. I don't have many readers, yet, but I do enjoying sharing what's going on.

My poor blog reader is stuffed with blogs I've added. I found so many today and also found some online classes I'm excited about.

I've already mentioned the Home Ec class from Smile and Wave!

Here are a couple more that have caught my eye...
Image courtesy of Run With Scissors
Basically this class will help me design my own blog! I'm super excited. I'm tired of using layouts that really don't fit what I want up here! Click here for more info!
It's actually run by You Will Won't You! I've been emailing Courtney... She's very sweet!

Another one from Run With Scissors!

Click here if you want to know more info!!
I just signed up for this class. Only $10!

The last thing that caught my eye is Happy Mail!

This is the brainchild of Inspired Mess!
I'm still trying to decide if I want to invest in the last one.

I've committed to HTML Yourself and Journaling for a Cause. And I'm pretty sure I will participate in the Home Ec class. Happy Mail is ongoing, so maybe another time!

    =)

I've been quite busy these past couple days, preparing for my last hurrah at work. If you didn't already know, my position is only a year and my term will end August 6th. I've already procured a new job and will be starting Aug 9. I'm rather excited for a new twist.

I've learned I'm not a huge office job fan. Sitting at a computer all day is not my forte. I'd rather be active. I'll have a little bit more flexibility and a lot more money. Depending on how many hours I get, I might apply for a second job.

Wednesday night, I decided to take a crack at some cupcakes. (I'm sorry there are no pictures). They were delish! I used this recipe (mad props to Not So Humble Pie)! I didn't do the whole brain thing, but I did do that frosting recipe... Yummy. I even heard things like, "These are the best cupcakes I've ever had."

This weekend I'm planning on: Making Woopie Pies (thanks to Bakerella) and Ginger Lemonade. Signing up to be a mark. representative. Working on some light crafting (make a list of crafts I want to do this fall/winter).

Things that are making me smile... Friday Edition
    1. Online Sewing Class... Smile and Wave rocks!
Image courtesy of Smile and Wave

I'm definately signing up for that class!
    2. Woopie Pies... See above link.
    3. My brother is still in town.
    4. Gap's sale... I got a cute pair of shorts and a pair of jeans under $40!
    5. My new bike! Can you believe that it's been too hot to ride these past couple of days?
    6. Netflix: To Kill a Mockingbird. Would you believe I've never seen all of that movie?
    7. 2 new prints I bought for clothing. I'm hoping I can hop on the machine this weekend and teach myself how to follow a pattern!
    8. Get some reading done this weekend: To Kill a Mockingbird and Emma.
    9. I love that Inception is getting good reviews. I can't wait to see it. Maybe I'll drag the family downtown!
    10. The fact that it's the weekend again and I have a pretty free schedule!

    12 July 2010

    Need to Try These

I def need to try some of these recipes! They are great! Hope you enjoy the link!

    Catastrophically Ok Weekend

Ok, the weekend wasn't that bad... Except for a nasty stomach bug.
Just a few short hours after my last post (early, early Saturday Morning) I was plagued by the most awful stomach pains. They didn't leave and I think you know what happened next.

On another note, even though I was just filled to my ears with ginger-ale, my singing went superb at the wedding. I have pics, but I will post them at a later date, once I sort through them.

Not much else happened this weekend, except that I purchased a brand spanking new (remember that from the days of Doug?) bike last night.
Nothing special, just a bike from wallyworld. I'm sorry I sold out, but it was the cheapest new bike I could find, I was never able to find what I was looking for on Craigslist.com.

It's an 18-speed beauty with nothing amazing about it. But, I'm hoping to buy a bike similar to this one, in a few short months.

Then, I would have a mountain and a cruiser. I'm stoked. Hopefully some pics of the new bike and me around town with the new bike will surface up.

No great plans for today, just recovering (still). Have a wonderful monday, it's super dreary outside, but the sun is shining somewhere.

Also, VIVA ESPANA! They weren't my first choice, but oh well.

    10 July 2010

    Oh What A Night

Tonight was sooooooooo busy! I'm so tired. But, I have pictures to document the night!
First of all, I had a wedding rehearsal... Sorry no pictures for that.
I was there to sing. :) Hopefully, we'll have pictures documenting the wedding soon.

Then, I stopped by the rehearsal dinner... Green Gateau! Yummy. I see a future birthday dinner there!

    I look weird!

Cara and I enjoying our very delicious lemonades!

Then I rushed to the Saltdogs game and hung out with a few alums from NWU!
    Me and Georg!

    Georg, Tyler, and Carrie

We got to sing "Take Me Out To the Ball Game".

Then, last but not least it was this guys birthday:
Happy 2?, I'm not sure how old he is!

Here was a guy at his birthday... He looked like Rob Bell!!
                                                               Image thirty thousand people blog

Well that's all! Sometime this weekend I will post pics of my recent trip to MINN and seeing my wonderful VISTAs!
    Night all!

Things that are making me smile - Friday Edition

For as stressed as I feel, I am very happy. Here are the top ten things that are making me smile.

    1. It's Friday
    2. Hearing this song: Adagio for Strings (Agnus Dei)
    3. A recipe given to me for Ginger Lemonade (making that on Sunday)
    4. I have three opportunities to sing this weekend.
    5. Sharon's wedding.
    6. I get to wear a formal dress for said wedding (I'm singing)
    7. My brother's rolling into town tonight.
    8. My rents are getting rid of cable! (less time for procrastination)
    9. My TOMS are worn out, time to get a new pair...
    Image Toms Shoes
    I'm thinking this pair...

    10. Had Moroccan Tomato Soup this afternoon

    Blog Love

I am in love with this blog... :)
Here are just a few pictures, makes me want to have an eclectic wedding. *Sigh* someday.

I know I'm corny, but I love beach weddings!

I hope you enjoyed this as much as I did, if you like what you see, head over to 100 Layer Cake!

    08 July 2010

    Great Day

Today was a t-riffic day! I got to spend lunch with two friends I don't see that much. We ate Sushi at one of the best places in town Tokyo. Go there and support your local business!

Then, I had a routine check up at the dentist. It came out good! I just need to floss!

GOAL #1: Floss continuously for 30 days!

The lady who cleans my teeth told me to start every other day. But, I don't think I will floss then. So, I'm publicly declaring that I will floss... I hope.

     Image Real Simple
To top the day off, I got a mani/pedi with my mom and Paul's BBQ! Yummy Brisket.
I need to remember to take pictures!!!
This weekend is going to be busy! Work, volunteering at The Table, wedding rehearsal, wedding rehearsal dinner, singing at a Saltdogs Game, singing at wedding, singing solo at church...

I will need plenty of rest Sunday... Stay tuned!

    New Blog Name

Blogging is such a difficult thing for me to do. I tend to write when there is a problem that is arising. When my life is quiet, I tend to ignore the blog. I’m going to try and expand my blog, so that it fits what I want it to do. Hence , the new name, One day At a Time.  I’m going to start documenting what I do. Taking more pictures. Crafting more projects. Sewing more items. Baking more goodies. I think you get the idea
Also, I realize I like to make goals. But, these goals are rarely met and come with too long a list. I think you get the idea.
I’m excited about the changes! Can’t wait for you to join the ride…
