With working and rehearsals (besides "life") this past weekend, I'm ready for a vacation!

I had a glorious and beautiful list of things I wanted to get accomplished this fine afternoon, but time has already escaped me (catching up on sleep and relaxing).

So, I think I'm going to:

1) Get ready
2) Read my Bible
3) Practice lines, music, and dance for Little Shop
4) Write a few blogs

I really wanted to get some sewing in as well as working out. But, I just need to eat right and drink plenty of orange juice and emergen-c so that I don't get sick. I can add my workout routine when I have a little bit more time on my hands!

By the way, my show opens next week! I'm so excited! What do you have going on today?

25 before 26 update

Create a work space in my room so that I can: Spend time with God Effectively, Craft Efficiently, Sew Effortlessly, and Read Easily. I'm in the process of doing this, I have my books organized, and I am almost done with my craft/sewing!
Not waste time during my days wishing for things, but actually making them happen. I'm getting better, it helps that I get up a little bit earlier than I use too!
Spend daily time with God in prayer and Bible reading. The prayer part is a little slow, but I've been diligently reading my bible.
Read the Bible in a Year or less (I was so close to my goal last year) see above
Keep my life clean of distractions, my room and car free of clutter, and my workspaces not littered with chaos. This one has been hard... I am working on it!
Be out of the red and the $$ in my savings to grow tremendously. Working on it.
Start a journal and write in it with honest updates (at least once a week) Not really.
Work on a diet plan and stick with it even when it is hard and inconvenient. (Vegetarian/Vegan) Need to create a menu so that this plan can be implemented precisely.
Keep a water bottle on my person at all times and go for water before I grab a snack. Nope
Exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, there is no excuse for a flabby-out of shape-overweight body! Not even close.
Create playlists of music for different parts of my day to motivate me in my tasks whether it is: cleaning, working out, spending time with God, doing the dishes, sewing/crafting. No.
Finish projects that I start. This one I am currently creating a list of unfinished projects.
~~Learn how to crochet and share what I learn.~~ I did this one! I just haven't shared what I made! Will share soon.
Learn how to play the guitar proficiently, so that I may play at church. Currently learning.
Schedule "me time" once a week where there will be: no cell phone, no distractions, a time for pampering, or leisure. Nope
Participate in some sort of club, guild, running group, etc. (something that takes me out of my comfort zone. Nope.
Read at least 100 pages a week. With my Bible reading I'm at least reading 50.
Start photographing 50 photos a week via fisheye camera, cell phone, ipod, and digital. Haha.
Purge my life of unnecessary things. Tangible and intangible. This I'm doing pretty good at!
Respond promptly to emails, rsvps, and letters and pay all bills before due, as well as return calls and library books promptly. For the most part.
Write lists and finish them in a productive manner. Getting easier.
Learn how to knit and share what I learn. Nope.
Use my sewing machine constantly to make clothes, gifts, and to re-create items. Working on it.
Create a wardrobe that reflects my style and the style I want have. Working on it.
Make new traditions and memories! In January I texted a lot of people and had an improtu movie night (two nights in a row). Once a month I want to have some sort of cheap/free outing. I need to do a better job of documenting it!

Money Money Money

I hope you enjoyed my post last week about "The Care and Keeping of Friends." If you haven't read it yet, you should definitely check it out!

Well, it's that time of the week to start stressing about everything life is throwing at me. Of course, I'm known to complain about money quite a bit on this blog! But, I had been planning on doing a "spending diet". I'm adapting this from the blog And Then She Saved. I know, I keep saying I'm not going to spend any money, but then I see my bank account dwindling little by little and bills piling up. I wish I could say, I have little to zero debt, but that's not the case. It's not gastronomic, but it's enough to worry a person who's trying to be debt free by July! I'm planning on joining YWAM in September, and I'd prefer to be debt free and have no monies due anywhere!

So, what does this money diet look like? Besides bills, I'm only spending money on food (groceries) and gas. That means I won't be sponsoring any blogs for awhile (I sponsored 2 in January, and three this month). But, with everything I want to accomplish, I'm going to even give that up. That also means, no new running clothes, no new american eagle clothes (gasp), and no frou-frou coffees.

I just suspended my Hulu and Netflix accounts and will be canceling my gym membership as well! Even though it's going to get cold again, I can and will run in the cold. It's free to run outside, not so much for the gym. With taking those three things out, I'm saving: $27. Which can go to my compassion child!

That's the other thing. I have quite a few "money commitments."

So, I'm giving myself an allowance of $100 a month. That will be used for food and gas. The extra will be put into savings. I can only use my savings for YWAM applications and races. I need these races for the half-marathon I've signed up for.

Can I do it? Can I only spend $100 a month?? Let's see, follow along with me on the journey (and maybe my dad will let me use his hulu and netflix??

Ok, so, I'm super excited to share with you some big news!

I'm getting a new pair of glasses. I know, you were thinking I was moving or engaged or something. Neither of those are remotely possible (ok, maybe the ~~enga...~~ moving).

But, I do need your help! I only have a few days to decide which pair of glasses I want!
I'm going through Warby Parker. They have this wonderful home try-on, where you are sent 5 pairs of glasses and then you can decide which pair you would like!

New Body Weekly Weigh: Weeks 3,4,5 // Feeling Good

I'm not as far as I would like to be. And I skipped two weeks because I felt like there was no progress. But, that's why I haven't been posting. I honestly love the musical I'm in, but it is taking a lot of time. I kinda can't wait for it to be over, so I can add more to my workout! Because this body needs some more "stress". My couch 2 5K plan is getting much easier. The first time I tried doing this, I only got to week 2, because it was just "too hard." This time around, I feel like I could run just a little bit longer and go a little bit further. I think I caught the running bug. I actually ~~like~~ love running! It's therapeutic, but I think the reason I like it because it is competition. I know, it's with myself, but that's the best kind. When I beat my times and feel invincible with former self, it just makes my run that much more enjoyable. Any runners agree with me??

Ok, here are my previous stats:
Last Weeks Goals (2 Weeks Ago):

~~Finish Week 2 of Couch to 5K~~ - I finished week 2 and 3! (even though it took me a little while)
No Pop (repeat) - I didn't completely do this, but I've limited my pop intake to once a week, this usually occurs on Saturday or Sunday.
Go to bed earlier (repeat) - I'm taking this off the list for awhile, with rehearsals, I'm not getting to bed till fairly late.

Let's see my progress:

Weight: 163 (+1) - But, yesterday morning I was 158. My weight fluctuates quite a bit! I think I may start weighing myself in the mornings??

Waist Measurements: 35 ½" (down 4½ ") I must be gaining muscle weight!! 

Hip Measurements: 41" (down ½")

Thigh Measurements: 20" (down 1½")

Upper Arm Measurements: 11 ¾" (down ¼")

Weekly Goals

Finish Week 4 of Couch to 5K
Add some other physical activity at least 2x a week
Drink 8-8oz glasses of water/daily

Well I can say that the running is helping! My mom kept saying I looked slimmer. Woman cannot live by scale alone!

Goal weight: 125 8/12

January Goals:

Go vegan
Be able to run 2 miles
Lose 10 lbs

Since this is my last weigh-in in January let's review these three goals! I am almost 100% vegan. It's the weekends that kill me! But during the week I'm very good at sticking to the plan!

I am not able to run continuously 2 miles. But my run/walk gets me to 1.95 miles so I say again, I'm very close!

Well, I didn't lose any weight, since week 1, I've actually gained 5. But, I know if I stick with running and adding some other sort of workout routine, I will be losing in no time!

February Goals:

Sign up for at least 2 races
Add another workout routine
Lose 10 lbs

The Care and Keeping of Friends

I've had a lot of disappointment in my life. A lot of it has been my own wrong doing. And just recently have I realized that it really is me.

I know, those are harsh words for a beginning of a post, but I'm realizing brutal honesty is always the best policy...

My newest revelation! I'm not a good friend. I'm going to let that sink in for a minute. You are probably thinking, wow, this girl is crazy!?! Um, probably. (heehee)

Let me expand. In the past, I've gone on rants of how I feel mistreated and abandoned, and that people just don't know how to treat me right. And, then, it hit me! If it keeps happening over and over again, maybe I am really part of the problem.

How can I complain about how other people treat me when I'm hit-or-missing the ball. Here are my self realizations:

1. I complain that people never call me and that people are always forgetting or changing their plans with me. I DO THE SAME THING! If I don't feel like hanging out, I will cancel. Period. A lot of times I just don't give a (you know what). I really don't. It's not that I don't care about that other person, but I just don't feel like taking time out of my day to make time for them (wow, honesty is hard). And, I'm not one to call people. I do occasionally, but that's when I seem to get hurt.

2. I get too excited when people ask to hang out, and then become very upset when said people cancel the plans. Because I do live at home, and I don't have a car, and right now I'm not enjoying life to it's fullest (friends, job, etc.) I do get overly excited when someone I haven't heard from in awhile or who has previously put me under the bus asks to hang out. But, I betcha people feel the same way when I've done the same thing to them!

3. I would rather not call anyone and feel sorry for myself then put myself out there and get my feelings hurt. That is somehow completely backwards! How does that even work? So, there's a fifty-fifty chance the other person will say no, but there's that other half where they say yes. So, feeling sorry for myself all the time is going to make a difference?? Wow, I have some messed up psyche!

4. I dwell on the negative. Enough said.

10 Things I Can Do To Change That:

1. Truly forgive the people who have hurt me, intentionally and unintentionally. There's no need to go up to that person and say, "I forgive you for that one time you blew me off." Just move on. Carrying around bitterness isn't fun, or healthy.

2. Don't give up. Don't give up to try and reaching that one out of touch friend. Only throw in the towel, when you feel like you've done everything.

3. Don't flake out. Simple as that. If you do have to change plans, make sure you've already set new ones. No one wants a flaky friend!

4. Remember birthdays! I'm horrible at this one. Every year I say, I will remember birthdays and try and send them something special in the mail. If I'm bad at sending mail period, what will make me send cards? (Another post on this one later)

5. Be more intentional about calling or texting. If I say I'm going to do it, just do it!

6. Plan events. Have a game night at a local coffee shop. Plan a movie outing. Laser quest anyone?

7. When a friend is going through something, truly be there for them. Make them a break up kit, help them bake those 10 thousand cookies, give them a literal shoulder to cry on, etc.

8. Find hobbies that correlate with your friends. Start reading a book together, running together, making food together, have pinterest parties!

9. Even if a friend is awful to you (then they probably aren't a friend in the first place), don't talk about them. It's not fair to them, and it's not fair to your integrity. I know I've done this before, but, it doesn't get me anywhere.

10. Send words of encouragement. Emails, letters, texts, yes even Facebook posts or messages.

That's it. None of these caused any harm or damage. What are some other things you can do to preserve and cultivate friendships! I'd love to hear from you!

Veganize Me

So, I did it, I went back to vegan. I know what ~~your~~ you're thinking! "Lauren, haven't you tried this like 3 times, what makes this time different?" Well, let me answer that for you!

It's not different. I'm just sick of not feeling well, and I'm sick of the pizza, pop, and too much sugar. Sugar in moderation is great! But, I've just been eating and eating and eating.

I just popped in to tell you a little of what's been going in my world. Also, Weigh-In is moving to Tuesdays! See you in the morning!

Purchased:

This week I made a lot of purchases with christmas money! I bought tons of sewing supplies and the items for my skirt! I haven't made any progress this week because I've been sooooooooo busy, but I have a whole Saturday afternoon to work on the muslin and maybe start the actual skirt!
I just bought some brand new running clothes at Target (pronouced Tarjay)! I kept making excuses for not running. One of them was I didn't have the proper clothing. Can't make that excuse anymore. I'm so glad for Christmas monies!

Listened:

Little Shop of Horrors of course! I'm starting to really learn the music. This is a "new" musical for me. I had never seen it or spent time listening to the music.

Watched:

Glee and still watching Felicity. I'm on season 4! Finally, but I'm not sure if I'm enjoying it as much as I enjoyed the first two seasons.

Reading:

Matched! It's pretty good. I'm finally about half-way through! Finally right?
I'm also reading The Money Book for the Young, Broke, and Fabulous by Suzie Orman. It's really good. I'm following the steps on checking my credit reports. It's a lot of work, but totally worth it.
I'm also reading this new blog I found! And Then She Saved. She talks about how she got out of debt in a year! I think I can do this. But, I can't spend. Then one year she only gave herself 100 bucks for the month. I think I'm going to modify it and only spend 25-50 starting in February! This will be exciting!

So, why did I miss my weigh-in weekly post? I've been so busy. I need to work at setting them up on Sunday nights. I haven't had any time to run! But, I'm not going to let the cold and snow stop me. Tomorrow I will get up and run! No matter what.

Why have I been so busy?? I've been working on this:

I'm a little bit behind, but I've prepared my material and pattern. I just need to make a muslin! That will happen either tonight or tomorrow after I run!

Hello! Are you enjoying my weekly weigh-in posts? My mom told me last week: "You're going to have to keep up with that, if you've promised your readers." I love my mom! Today she asked me if I posted, I wanted to say, "Go and see!" But instead, I said, "Yes I did." Well, slowly I'm delving back into the blogosphere (apparently that's a real word!), so I will be adding bit by bit as the weeks and months unfold. I have so many awesome ideas and plans, but my biggest goal in life is to find a job and a car... But, that will not let me neglect my blog, I'm even sponsoring two blogs this month! Mollie Johanson over at WildOlive and Amy Morby over at A is for Ampersand.

Now to the main event!!

This new feature is all about things I've discovered, seen, watched, listened too, read, pined over, create, challenged me, etc.

This Week:

Am Listening Too:
-Fleet Foxes' and Coldplay's new albums! Have you heard them yet? They are fantastic. I just love music.
-To the ringing in my head. According to John Tesh, this means I've suffered hearing loss, and if I don't get it checked out, there could be trouble lurking ahead.

Am Watching:
-He's Just Not That into You with my sister over the weekend. I could watch this movie over and over and over, I think you get the point.
-I'm on the third season of Felicity on Netflix. It's getting a bit repetitive, but I'm hoping season 4 looks up!

Am Reading:
-Matched, I've had this book since before Thanksgiving (I believe I bought it around my birthday), and I'm just now starting to pick it up (again). It's a gripping novel so far. I hope it ends well, or keeps me hanging lol. But, I'm not sure it will match up with "The Hunger Games" (see what I did there, I used the word "match?")

Am Thinking About:
Ashley over at After Nine to Five has a great post on "How To Build Relationships With Other Bloggers." It really got me thinking and it's a great inspiration on making sure you are putting the effort into others blogs as you do your own.
This adventure guide over at srslyliz! What a great way to create a bucket list! I think I may link up this!

Want To Do:
Rhinestones and Telephones is doing a sew-along to the Colette Sewing Handbook. My first goal of the year is to better my sewing skills! I have the sewing machine, and the book! So, let's get started!

Also, Suzie over at Su Sews So-So, is doing a 12 in 2012 when it comes to sewing! I think it's a brilliant idea! I think I will link to it!

Speaking of sewing! Tilly and the Buttons is teaching us how to sew!! I'm so intimidated by sewing and the *whisper* "sewing machine! But, not for long, there are too many resources out there not to be intimidated! Now, it's about the time and the drive!

Then of course there is the Craftsy Free Block of the Month Club! This is where you learn essentially how to quilt! I've always wanted to quilt, so this is awesome. Even if I can't start right away, I can save this for a future sewing project!

And let's not forget my embroidery endeavors. I let that fall by the wayside. I just need to spend less time surfing the net, and more time crafting, with Netflix or Hulu on in the background of course!

Feeling Stitchy always has a monthly stitch-a-long that I'm usually too intimidated to work on a embroidery project, but I need to just not live in fear, in everything I do!

Of course there is the sew weekly challenges. I'm not ready to sew an item a week, but I think I will try and incorporate my other sewing goals into this! TOO MANY SEWING THINGS!

New Body Weekly Weigh In: Week 2 // Hiccups

Remember this post? I can't believe it was a week ago, it feels like ages ago. As much as I didn't want to post today, I need the accountability, and to see my growth. I'm worn out! And the sad thing is, I haven't merited much for being this worn out!
Ok, I know you're dying to see how my week went! Let's look at last weeks goals and see how I did!

Last Weeks Goals

~~Finish Week 1 of Couch to 5K~~
No pop
Go to bed early

Well, I completed the first one just fine. (I actually completed it today, but it only took me a week). The first day was hard, but not impossible, the second day I felt great. And today's was amazing. I felt invigorated afterwords, I wasn't out of breath like I usually am, and I was able to run harder! On to week 2!!

The no pop went great until this past weekend. We had a youth lock-in at church, and since I'm a youth leader, you know I was there. Amongst the games of apples to apples and the mechanical bull rides, I thought it would be a great idea to have 2 cans of sprite, 1 can of pepsi, and 1/2 bottle of diet dr pepper. Plus, this weekend was filled with chips (junk), pizza x 3 (junk), and tons of cookies! WHAT AM I DOING?

I started off going to sleep before 11, but it got worse as the weeks went on. So, that will be another goal until I can at least go 5-6 days in bed before or by 11.

So, I'm afraid to weigh myself or take measurements! Here goes:

STATS:

Weight: 162 (+4) :(

Waist Measurements: 39 (no change!)

Hip Measurements: 41 ½" (down ½")

Thigh Measurements: 21 ½" (up 1")

Upper Arm Measurements: 12" (up ½")

10. Bob Harper from The Biggest Loser

The Biggest Loser is one of my favorite shows. I love how people's lives are changed with this show.

Bob is a great motivator. This show is also great to watch while working out! Try it sometime!

9. Joan Holloway from Mad Men

If you haven't seen this show, watch it! I love this show, the fashion, the decor, the sixties in all it's splendor. Joan's character is strong and she doesn't let people boss her around.

8. All the characters from Parenthood

Best drama on tv right now! All the characters are so complex and believable.

7. Kelly Kapour from The Office

New Body Weekly Weigh In: Week 1 v.1 (updated)

I'm so sick and tired of being overweight, uncomfortable, having a non-active lifestyle, and being unfit. So, I'm making a change. I have just a few goals this year. 8 to be exact. And I shared them with you yesterday. But, one of them is to run a half marathon in May (I signed up on Dec. 20). In order to run a marathon, I'm going to need a body capable of running one. Thus, here is my newest weekly post: Weekly Weigh In! Each week I will share my real weight, a picture of my progress, how my marathon training is going, and what I'm doing this week to change my bad habits (drinking soda and sugar coffees, eating junk, eating meat and dairy) into good habits (drinking lots and lots of water, eating good for me stuff, eating vegan). Vegan is the only way for me to go. Since I've incorporated meat and dairy back into my diet, my stomach has been going hay wire. And I'm so sick of not feeling well.

Here are the stats for week!! I will be sharing my measurements the first monday of each month to track my progress.

This year, I can just feel it, it's going to a great year of change and transition. I spent the last few days of 2011 cleaning and organizing, purging and recycling, pondering and questioning all of my random items. I'm trying to live a less cluttered life, and I thought the things I physically owned would be a great way to end the year. 2011 has been a pretty crappy year for me all in all. I can't change the past, but I can plan and prepare for the future. I usually have a ton of goals that are hard to accomplish, but, I've simplified it. Made it so I can breathe. Being broke with no transportation isn't great, but being blessed is! So, out with old, in with the new.

I love creating. I'm an avid baker. And when I mean avid baker, I mean I love to bake, and if given the time. I would bake for a living. But, this post isn't about baking, it's about sewing. I'm in a brand new world when it comes to sewing. I don't have much experience, and my sewing machine scares me a bit but, I'm trying to overcome that fear.

So, I thought I'd learn a little bit more about what is out there in terms of the sewing world. Where can I find help, inspiration, and the tools I need to start such an ambitious endeavor (I love an expansive vocabulary).

Here are some websites that are great tools for sewing:
BURDASTYLE - There are projects, techniques, patterns, contests, and they just came out with a new book (It's on my wish list.)
Gertie's New Blog for Better Sewing - I adore this blog, so many great tips!
Coletterie - Sewing tips, patterns, and they also came out with a new book that I own! I love it!
Adventures is Dressmaking - I learned how to cut up a pair of jeans and make shorts from this site. It's cute and she is good at finding patterns for a dress you would rather make than buy.

There are so other ones... But this is a start... I hope to share some projects with you soon!

Since my last post was so gloomy, I thought I'd bring some sunshine over... Since, I'm trying not to spend money, here are 10 Things I Can Do for Free (or very low cost) that I love!!

10) Read Blogs

My blog reader always has blogs for me to read... I like so many kinds.. I've categorized some of my favorites! There's crafty, friends, faith, fashion, sewing, needle crafts, lifestyle, foodies, weddings...

9) Sew clothing

I have tons of patterns ( I collect them). I haven't sewn an outfit since I was in middle school. It was actually a LOTR's costume, dress and an awesome cape! The dress is way too small, but I still love that cape!

I've also collected a lot of clearance fabric. I have tons for dresses and really pretty tops. I just need to start sewing. And it will be easy to buy notions since they are always on sale and I get great coupons. And fabrics are always going on clearance or super sale so spending no more than 10 bucks when I need a new dress just because can be an option!! But, I think I have enough stashed away to keep me busy for awhile.

I also just got The Colette Sewing Handbook, there is no reason why I can't be sewing. I have all my tools, now I just need the will and time.

8) Hulu/Netflix Marathon

I have money coming out of my account for 4 things a month, 2 of them are Hulu and Netflix. I mean c'mon. It's so cheap, cheaper than going to see two movies a month!! Plus there are so many shows in my que's. I'm trying to catch up with all my shows on Hulu. There are so many good new ones, plus my old one's are just great this season... :) Plus, I can re-watch Mad Men (I think I need to do that stat). Great fashion inspiration.

7) Workout at the gym // Train for the half marathon

I have a very cheap gym membership that I've been paying for 2 years and I never go. For awhile I didn't have a working car, but, that shouldn't be a deterrent. Tomorrow I will start training. I want sign up for the half marathon. It's already almost half filled up. Maybe I will pay for it with my savings. The joy of finishing it would make my year!!

6) Paint nails with colors already owned --

Cutepolish has so many cute diy's. I've done the galaxy one! I loved it!

Just recently have I started growing my polish collection. So, it is definitely time to start doing some fun funky things with my nails again!! And maybe when I have a great coupon or rebate from walgreens or cvs (or earn cvs bucks!!) will I get a new color. Or find a cheaper brand! (there is a new pink sparkle one I WANT --stupid consumerism!!)

5) Catch up on reading

My list is always growing and with my library card, the world is my oyster.
I have so many unread books in my room, maybe I shouldn't buy anymore books or go to the library for awhile?? I think that's a good idea. What are you reading right now? I'm reading: Matched, The Magicians, and Good Morning, Holy Spirit.

4) Re-watch my favorite movies // Watch movies I own but haven't seen

I have a quite a few movies I purchased for real cheap, that I haven't even watched, what a great way to spend the evening with a brand new movie. I also have a few tv shows that I need to watch.

3) Learn an instrument // Re-learn the guitar

I have a guitar, and I need to use it! I use to play a few chords. I don't really remember anything. For me, since I work all the time, I don't have much time for the guitar. So, if I decide to start practicing once a week, and keep adding every few weeks, I should be decent in no time! I want to play at church, I just don't got the skills yet. But, I will have those skills sooooon!! LOL

2) I-Touch apps // Create playlists

So many things I have that just collect dust. My i-pod being one of them. I have so many free apps that I don't use that are great. It just doesn't want to keep charge. But, all the free apps and free music. I can create hours of fun for myself! Plus, make a great workout mix while I'm at it.

1) Have fun on Pinterest

Pinterest has so many great ideas, which can inspire me to do so many things that I haven't even mentioned on my list of free (or almost free) things to do. Like bake, craft, re-arrange my room, print out neat quotes. As well as take some pics of my own to add to pinterest! Add me on pinterest! Monies

every once in awhile, I start a new budget, but i'm done not saving money or getting anywhere with monies owed other places. I have credit cards that I pay off and then use again and use again and use again. i'm so sick of having so much stuff and no money. i've gone over an old budget that i really like and i can plug in numbers and it can help me. but what stresses me out is that i have jobs that don't pay me a lot and i have a college degree. what can a person who wants to move out of the country do while she is living in the states. i'm wanting to go on short-term missions trips, but a person can't/shouldn't do that when owing lots of monies. the stress is on my shoulders and it's making me so uneasy because i hardly make any money. and the one other job i do have (where i make quite a bit is ending next week), they didn't want to make me full time. which stinks, but, that's life. and on top of all that, my car is kaputz. my parents have put so much money into it, that it's better to just get a new one. i'm getting so frustrated and upset. why try and find a job that i can settle down on when i know i'm being called somewhere else. it makes me want to cry.

but, with all that i've said, i really need to purge a lot of items. sell them so that i can first make some extra income, as well as live minimally, i have plenty of time as an older adult to accumulate stuff. for a 25 year old, i have so much stuff. a lot i've wasted money on. money that could have gone into savings. i'm going to have to say goodbye to starbucks and buying when i'm upset. so, with a budget started, the first area i will be purging is my books... i have at least 300 of them. a lot are school books. i will be getting rid of so many but it will be good and cleansing. i think the only area i will keep most of my items are my sewing, arts, and crafts because those can be turned into things i can use, sell, and give away. and since i already have them i won't have to spend a lot of money on it. also i can give things to other places/people who can use it!

next will be my clothes. i have purged at least 50 items this year, but i have so many clothes. many i haven't worn in years that i just haven't wanted to part with. i need to get rid of them! asap!

sorry my posts have been such downers as of late. but this is good therapy for me... downsizing my life will be extremely hard, but there is no need to keep these things!

On my side of the world...

Wow, recently my jobs have really started to get under my skin. I just can't get a break it seems. I'm not mad or angry, just exhausted and tired.

Thankfully, I had a little break last week. The week before last, I worked a double on Friday, a double on Saturday, and Sunday night. That's a lot of work. I felt sick on Monday and it was too Icy on Thursday so I didn't go in to my office job either of those days.

What am I so angsty about?? I work three part time jobs, one "office" job, one retail job, and one waitressing job. They all have their quirks, but they seem to make me a little quirky. I don't feel like bashing anyone. But, I can say I'm all burnt out... But here are some happy things in my life outside of work!!

Last week: I auditioned for a Musical in town and I got a lead role! (More on that when the casting goes up).
This week: I had my choir concert. It wasn't brilliant, but we sounded pretty good. And tomorrow is my mom's birthday!! I've also been working on my crocheting. For self taught, I think I'm doing just fine! I will share with you soon some of the homemade gifts this year on an upcoming post!

Not waste time during my days wishing for things, but actually making them happen.
Spend daily time with God in prayer and Bible reading.
Read the Bible in a Year or less (I was so close to my goal last year)
Keep my life clean of distractions, my room and car free of clutter, and my workspaces not littered with chaos.
Be out of the red and the $$ in my savings to grow tremendously.
Start a journal and write in it with honest updates (at least once a week)
Work on a diet plan and stick with it even when it is hard and inconvenient. (Vegetarian/Vegan)
Keep a water bottle on my person at all times and go for water before I grab a snack.
Exercise for a minimum of 30 minutes a day, there is no excuse for a flabby-out of shape-overweight body!
Create playlists of music for different parts of my day to motivate me in my tasks whether it is: cleaning, working out, spending time with God, doing the dishes, sewing/crafting.
Finish projects that I start.
Learn how to crochet and share what I learn.
Learn how to play the guitar proficiently, so that I may play at church.
Schedule "me time" once a week where there will be: no cell phone, no distractions, a time for pampering, or leisure.

Wow, I can't believe today is the big day. It seems so surreal to me and I don't know how I feel. On the one hand, I'm overjoyed that it is MY DAY! But, then I remember I am a quarter of a century old tomorrow! I'm so nervous. . . Why should I be nervous on the day of all days? Because, I want to make sure I have lived my life to the fullest. And to think that in only 25 years I will be fifty... Ok, I'm done thinking about that.

With everything, I have expectations about my birthday. I just know that everyone will remember, and there will be surprises around every corner and it will just be this magical day...

Wait, that dream wont come true? It's unrealistic, but every year I'm disappointed. This year is the first year I haven't asked for something that sounds selfish (I asked for work clothes), and I haven't even picked where I want to go out to eat with the family, I haven't planned anything with friends and I didn't take off at least part of my birthday.

I'm not complaining, just growing up! I will make tomorrow just as exciting even if there aren't any "surprises." My day will be what I make it... So, what's on the agenda for tomorrow?

6am - Time with God (What a great way to ring in a "new year" on this earth.
:30 - Get ready for the day (pack for both jobs) And CLEAN (my room is such a pit)
8am - Breakfast (what should I have on my birthday??)
10am - Work at NWU (have I not told you about my new part time job??)
12pm - Lunch with Candice (how sweet is she, we're having sushi!!)
1pm - Meetings with prospective students for the rest of the afternoon
5pm - Get ready for work at the PNON (That's The Parthenon for short)

10pm - GO HOME AND RELAXXX!!!!
11:11pm - Make a wish, c'mon... only twice in my life time will it be 11:11 on 11/11/11 (unless I live to be 125!).

Not the most exciting day, but I'm going to make it fantastic!!

I'm not going to even go over what I did or didn't accomplish last year. But, my expectations are going to be a little bit different for my 25th year on this earth...

Boy, have I been busy! Between my three part time jobs, and all the other things I'm involved with, I sometimes don't have time to come up for a breath of air. Wednesdays are my days off and this topic has been lying heavily on my heart, so here I go.

I have never shared my story of my "friendships" in my life. I've moved around a lot since I was very little. With all that moving, it was hard to find that "best friend." I don't want to bore you with the details, but I have had even more difficulty since junior high. Girls (and sometimes guys) were very rude, cold, and malicious to me. (Another side note: I was home schooled and these were friends from youth group.) They invited each other to birthday parties in front of me and would then turn to me and say "my mom said I could only invite a few people, and you're not invited." I would be sitting alone waiting for youth group and would ask girls if anyone is sitting with them and they would say no and move to a new spot. Even typing this out makes me a little emotional, and I think a lot of my trust issues stem from that.

Later, in my high school days, I experienced some of the same things but at least the high schoolers were a little more tactful. I had one "friend" in particular who would go after any guy that I liked and date them, so I couldn't. She even admitted she did that to me once, but to this day, I can't remember why she said that.

In college, I was able to make new "friends." It was hard, but I still have a few friends I keep in constant contact with, or I consider to be really close. There was one incident where a girl (not from school), was my "best friend," and behind my back she schemed to make sure my life didn't outshine hers. Sabotaging potential boyfriends (at the time I didn't see that blessing), but it was still rude and there was a lot of conflict and drama, because of all the lies and betrayal.

This goes to say, when a friend doesn't meet "my expectations," I get really upset and sometimes angry when they disappoint me. I don't know why, humans are flawed, and we all have our "fairy tale" life. I just never thought, I would be the one who wouldn't grow up with the same friend my whole life.

Why am I writing this post? This past year has been the hardest year I have ever had. My best friend moved to a foreign country in the Peace Corps and I haven't seen her in over a year (sidenote: she will be here for Christmas!!) My jobs switched because my Americorps VISTA position was over, I wasn't working a fulfilled job, and I just wasn't doing anything productive with my life. I've seen a busy friend get married and even busier (I haven't seen her since her wedding, which was in July), I've seen two friends move out of the state (one who won't talk to me, not sure why, but it hurts, a lot). And this year I had struggled to find my purpose. This past month, I had a friend who for no reason in my mind, just starting ignoring my texts and making me feel like I had done something awful.

I write this all to say, I've had some crappy things happen to me and I've relied on my own strength to move on and keep a hold of friendships. I'm not saying I don't have friends, but in a lot of my friendships, there is no consistency, and during this time in my life, I need that. I have friends who constantly go out, and I can say honestly, that was me, but I no longer live that lifestyle and I want to focus on things that will matter when all is said and done.

In this being my birthday week, it's interesting the gifts that God will bring. This morning, as I was lying in bed, feeling quite sorry for myself (being very selfish), for having no close christian friends who are girls, and for just feeling crummy, and even in all that mess, God spoke to me: He told me that there was no reason for me to be upset, first, because I haven't given Him the situation, and second, I need to give him the situation.

I know why it's been so hard for me recently to pray and read my bible, because I've been so bitter towards people and friendships, I've been filling the void that He (my infallible God) has been trying to fill with thoughts and sour attitudes towards fallible people.

Yes, I pray the prayer daily, whether I read my bible or not, to give God my whole day, and my whole being. But, I sometimes forget that also means individually talking about each area I'm letting Him takeover. Because, when He takes over, things go perfectly right, and I'm not worrying.

I've turned into a worrying person who is on go-go-go mode and I've been on auto-pilot when I shouldn't be the person in command of my ~~ship~~ plane.

Dear Lord,
I am using this day to re-energize and catch up with all that I need to do at home. I give you my whole day, Father God, help me not to waste even a second, but help it to be productive and also relaxing while I get accomplished what I need to get accomplished. I also give you my heart and my thoughts. Please be in control over them. Be in control over my time, finances, familial relationships, friendships, my jobs, my relationship with You, and over anything else I can't think about at the moment. I want you to have full control! Please be the author of my life, I submit completely to You.

There have been many changes over the past few months.
Good and bad.
But, all to better me in the areas I need growth.

I've seen a new job.
I've seen God provide, when there was no way for me to provide for myself.
I've seen new relationships.
Even a new blog url/twitter handle.
But, most of all I've seen a big change in me.

November marks my birthday month!
I will be celebrating all month long. With tutorials, giveaways, inspirational posts, and much more.

I have some big plans for this blog, but I really have to commit to writing and contributing. I also have to commit to reading my bible everyday. I need to realize that God wants my full attention all the time, not some attention a part of the time.

I am truly blessed, Happy First Day of November!

Oh, I haven't, well, let me tell you... MY KINDLE DIED THIS WEEK!

It was awful, I pulled it out to read while I had some down time, and the screen was acting funny. So, I let the battery die, and then charged it, assuming that would fix the problem...

It didn't, and the rest of the screen started acting up.

And, I was in the middle of a really good book...

All sin is the same. Sexual, lying, disobeying God, killing, etc. Its all the same. God sees sin as sin. As christians, we need to see sin the same way.
That was a bit of a tangent, but I am really adamant on this subject.

It happened to me. I was disobeying God, (He has awesome plans for everyone, but its up to us to make them happen), and I was found out with my sin in a very open and embarrassing way. But, instead of taking the "woe is me card," I realized God was waking me up, reminding me of his perfect will for my life.

My Weekend

1. I finally made some money at my waitress job! Also, a pretty nice paycheck for that job as well!
2. I saw Contagion! It was a great movie! I really enjoyed it! Check out the trailer here!
3. Sunday morning service was awesome church. The sermon was about Principles of Multiplication - Based on Luke 9:12 -17 (Jesus Feeding of the "5000")
What's awesome about this story was that it was way more than 5000 fed. The 5000 number was each man, but there were also wives and children, who weren't counted.
If you don't know the story, look it up. What I took away from this sermon was:

What if God asks you to give it all?

If you are obedient, God will give you what you want!

This was a great weekend!

Busyness is a Blessing/Update on My Life

I told someone at church the other day, that I have been bored at home. This boredom has helped me keep up with blogging, paint my nails in funky colors and designs, work on guest posts and crafts, and do some light baking. She must have prayed for me to stay busy so as not to be lazy. Well, whatever it is, I have been quite busy. I have to make about 3 dozen cupcakes for tonight's church event (basically wednesday nights are starting up and we're having a youth party to celebrate back to school.) After I bake cupcakes I have to get to work. I work until 4, then I have a breather before church. I haven't neglected my blog or been lazy. Just busy with the outside world, that I don't talk about much. I need to start being more personal with my blog again. I tend to enjoy writing in it more...

In my bible reading this month, I've been working on Proverbs. Proverbs is a great book in the bible of wisdom. This book has challenged me to ask for wisdom daily from God. I can't believe I will be done with Proverbs soon. I've been trying to figure out what I should read next. I finished the New Testament earlier this year, and if I read more than 4 chapters a day, I should be able to get through the Old Testament by New Years!

In other news, I've been trying to give my two weeks at one of my jobs, but every time I go in, they basically send me out and tell me they will do whatever they can to keep me because I'm such a good employee. It's interesting how you don't feel appreciated until you've begged for attention.

I recently worked on a poster for my Saturday Night Service for church. It's not my best work, but since I don't have access to photoshop or other adobe products, I did with it what I could.

I need to be more deliberate with my applications. I've taken a bit of a hiatus. But, I need to spend at least a half an hour everyday on either applications or the GRE! It's stressful to think about, so I avoid it. I need to work on that.

In other news, my CW shows started this week! I was super excited about this until I realized it takes a week for them to show up on the website (I don't have cable). So, I will patiently wait for next week, while I catch up on Parenthood, and watch old episodes of Everwood that I've borrowed from the library.

I think this is a lot, but this is a more personal side of me! Expect scheduled posts soon. Tomorrow I will have time to bang out a few posts for upcoming weeks!

Whoops/30 Lists Update

I was doing so well at making sure I blogged something everyday, but I missed the ball on that yesterday. I had to put in time elsewhere. But, my blog notebook is filled with scheduled posts. So, with that said I wanted to apologize for not keeping up with #30Lists. I will be working on that this afternoon. But, I would like to say that our first list was our goals for this month and I've already achieved 2 out of the 9!
Here is the list again!
~~1. Finish "The Help" - I'm halfway through this great novel, I'm hoping to be done by next week! (~~I'm done!!! There will be a review of the book at the end of the month.)
2. ~~Try new design on nails~~ - I just bought some new nail polishes and I found some great tutorials. There is no reason why I can't try something new!
I finally tried this tutorial from cutepolish.
Here's the finished project!

It needs some work, but they're suppose to be celestial. It called for yellow nail polish which I don't have, but for a first try I think I did alright!

3. Start sewing - I have a pattern and everything to go with it to make a skirt.
4. Write overseas friends - I have two friends overseas who would love to receive a letter from me.
5. Organize email/desktop - This is long overdue, enough said
6. Re-learn knitting - There are some projects I want to work on, but my skills aren't up to par.
7. Keep up with blog - I have a notebook that I chart my posts. I have so many great ideas!
8. Drink more h20 - It's hard...
9. Finish 30 Days of Lists - I'm notorious for starting something without finishing...

How are your month goals going?? I really need to drink more water! Carrying around a water bottle or a cup with a straw will help me! What helps you??

Movies: I need to watch/finish

I have a collection of movies that I've either started but not finished or not watched yet. A lot of them are movies I found on super sale (target or a movie store closing, or an amazon deal). I love movies: let me clarify, I LOVE MOVIES)

Here are the movies -
1. Away We Go - I've started this movie, but I don't ever remember finishing it. What I've seen is cute. I love those to actors!! (Blockbuster closing)
2. Deliver Us From Eva - Got it via amazon because it was $4-$5.
3. Fantastic Mr. Fox - I've heard rave reviews and it was on super sale at Target.
4. I'm Not There - I bought this movie ages ago because I love the actors in this movie and I like Bob Dylan, but I just have never gotten around to watching the whole thing. (Target)
5. Ocean's Twelve - I've seen the first one, just haven't gotten around to watching the second one. (Blockbuster)
6. Rachel Getting Married - I started this one awhile back and haven't finished it. It's long but very good. (Local Rental Store)
7. The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest - I've seen the first two movies (which are riveting) but haven't watched this one yet. (Blockbuster)
8. Wendy and Lucy - I rented this via itunes and wasn't able to finish it. I was able to buy it at blockbuster.
9. The Wackness - Read great reviews on sale at blockbuster so I bought it.
10. The Lookout - I have no idea what this movie is about, but it was 99 cents because it had no case. It seemed like a great deal to me!

Happy Labor Day / Fall Goals

I hope no one has to work like I do on Labor Day!

At least it's a pretty short shift! I'm only hosting, so I should be able to read "The Help" (I'm almost done!)

I also wanted to share with you my fall goals! I haven't been very good at sharing nor finishing my goals, but I'm going to be more intentional in achieving my goals and also sharing them with you guys.

1: Be more intentional sharing and achieving my goals. I love writing lists and goals, but I don't have the best track record for keeping up with them!

2: Work on biking more / Get bike fixed. I have a bike I got last year for my birthday and it's just not in the best condition. I need a new tire. I would like to start riding my bike to work (it's less then 5 miles from mi casa)

3: Organizing my craft and sewing items. It's kind of a mess because I have them scattered in containers and there are some things that are divided that should be together. This will be a fun one!

4: Make Christmas Cards via online or handmade I either want to make them or go through moo.com and make cards to send!

5: Get past the basic Knit Stitch. I can knit till the cows come home, but that's it, just knit. I want to pearl and some other fun stitches. Making somethings would be great!

6: Learn and successfully make a granny square (crochet). I am not that great at crochet, so if I intentionally make a goal of accomplishing a granny square my skills will improve.

7: Work on projects from "All in the Details" Class I have a lot of materials I just haven't made anything. I need to get to work on my embroidery skills.

8: Save $500. Self-explanatory.

9: Read more than 3 books! ditto...

10: Lose 10 lbs I was doing so well, but I feel I've been pigging out and eating all the wrong things for my body and drinking way too much pop!

11: NO FAST FOOD!!! This goes with what I said in ten!

My Weekend

I did my nails on Thursday

I haven't done a my weekend post in forever. So, I thought I would share my weekend.

1. Work
I worked a double shift on Friday - Hosting then Serving. I didn't make a lot of money. People were cheap with their meals and tipping. I also worked a very long shift on Saturday and hardly made any money. But, I'm not going to complain because God is my provider.

2. My Uncle
My uncle is in town for an extended weekend. My family has been laughing a lot and watching movies. We watched True Grit and Sanctem. True Grit was a great movie, Sanctem was alright.

3. Church
I went to 3 services this weekend, Saturday Night Life, Sunday Morning, and a Burmese service Sunday afternoon. It's been a long weekend, but each service was great!

I didn't have much time, but I hope today I get some work done...

Bubble/Boba tea recipe over at Elsie's on A Beautiful Mess. I'm always scared to eat the tapioca part whenever I try it! I need to not be scared and just make my own!
I feel like I'm sinning by just looking at this Midnight Sin Chocolate Cake made by Not So Humble Pie.
Sweetopia has two recipes that I would someday like to make Chocolate Hazelnut Cupcakes and Carrot Cake Cupcakes with Cream Cheese Frosting. Looks like I need a whole day devoted to just making cupcakes!

Where I Work

Even though I'm a college graduate, I didn't want to go into the field that I studied in undergrad (no I don't believe my education was a waste of money). Until I attend graduate school (I'm in the process of applying), I work at a local Greek Restaurant!

It's called: The Parthenon!

I'm a server there, but occasionally I host! Here's what it looks on the inside!

This place has amazing gyros! But my favorite dish is the Mousaka (Eggplant Lasagna), with layers of eggplant, zucchini, potatoe, cheese, ground beef, cream sauce, cheese, topped with a red sauce and hint of nutmeg! Just thinking about this dish is making my mouth water!

As you can see I'm currently reading THE HELP. It is page turner! I can't put it down. Well, this is where I work! I hope you enjoyed!

30 Days of Lists - Day 1

30 Days of Lists - September 2011 is finally here!!

You've probably heard me talk about this! But, I'm ready to start and finish a project. Maybe this will be my first real one finished (minus my felt projects).

Off Day

You know when you have one of those just "off days"? Well, I had mine today. I hope tomorrow is better. And "holy" storm! It was raining buckets and buckets! I'm just glad it is 10:00pm. I've been waiting for this hour forever, because I know that the day is over. Payday is tomorrow, which means I can pay bills and hopefully put some change in the savings account. I think tonight is an excellent night to get some reading/blogging/modern family catching up accomplished... And also some grad school apps filled out. I keep changing my mind on where I want to go... Why is KU looking awesome at the moment?

I have so many awesome things planned for the blog, that I think will finally come into fruition! What would you like to see on the blog? Did you like my outfit post? I had fun and even American Eagle commented on my twitter about it, which is awesome!

well, i cracked and did one of these posts. i had started to compare myself to others and the amazing photos of their outfits. i kept thinking... i don't have an awesome camera or someone to take my pics... and then i thought, then be yourself... i love my style and some of the new clothes i've recently added to my wardrobe, and i've always wanted to do a post... so, here goes! i don't have a cool icon, but again, i'm not here to compare myself, but to branch out!

This outfit is a mismatch of old and new. I don't usually shop at aeropastle, but every once an awhile my mom will pick up something that's "my style". I love that blouse from last season. Most of my tanks and cami's are from there as well, because they're inexpensive. I just bought my shorts last night at work. They were on sale, and I needed a pair so I snagged them, perfect for early fall. My necklace is a purchase a few years ago, an owl is one of the charms, I love owls! The purse is a score from target on Monday. I've seen this purse a few times and just didn't have the funds to buy, but yesterday it was $5 off, and I had the means, so I pounced! I bought my toms through a local shoe store via groupon. The groupon was 25 for 50, and the TOMS were 54. So, it was a great deal!

The Good The Bad and The Lists

As you know, I am a lister... I'm not exactly sure what a lister is, but I'm refashioning the word to mean I write lists. I'm not just talking occasionally, but all the time, probably for almost every occasion. To do's, schedules, birthday, christmas, packing, things I need, people I need to write, blogs I want to post, etc,. I've written lists on my blog as well. For all of you lists writers out there, I have just the thing for you:

WE ALL HAVE OUR LOYALTIES. We are loyal to a political affiliation, our cultural heritage, our Mac, P.F. Chang’s, a few of us even to the Yankees. And then—added to the mix—some of us are loyal to Jesus as well.

The sickness here is that the whole enterprise begins and ends with us. We know what we want, and we use whomever or whatever will help us get it. If a career or a spouse or a master’s degree helps, great. And when Jesus can grease the wheels, all the better. From this posture, we can attach God’s name to whatever suits us. We may quote a verse or pray a prayer, but then we baptize our every whim and desire in the name of me.

Often, our actions belie that we have made a lethal error. We believe the world and all its resources—all our friendships, all our time, all our economic power—are ours to devour.

Certainly, God has given us His world to enjoy for our pleasure. But we are caretakers, not owners. Our first question is not, What do I want from this world? but rather, What does God want to do in His world? And how does God want to use us in His redemptive work?

Think of the times that you rely on God's provision and promises. Is it only for personal gain, or to better serve God's will?

The Case of the Missing DVD's

Over the years, we as human beings lose items. This is true because we are only human... :P

I've misplaced many items ie, cellphone, keys, purse, etc. But there are some items that are gone ie, clothing, books, cds, and dvds.

That's what I want to talk about today! With the invention of hulu and netflix, I don't bother with my dvd collection as much as I use too! I still add to my huge collection when Target has there awesome sales, or blockbusters go out of business... But, I'm missing some DVDs... Donde Esta? (Where did they go in Spanish y'all!)

Here is a list of DVDs I'm missing:

1. A Walk to Remember (This DVD has been missing for years, I have the case at least)

2. Save the Last Dance (A former friend borrowed said DVD and lied about having it)

3. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (I have no idea, I actually just remembered that I had had it)

4. ~~The Bourne Ultimatum~~ (I watched this a few months ago, it should be somewhere in the house) I FOUND IT 8/10/11

5. ~~Bright Star~~ (I watched this a month ago, it should be close by) I FOUND IT!!!! (8/10/11)

I guess, I need to take better care of my items. I'm also missing one of my favorite book of all time. I can't remember if I loaned it to a friend or not. My amazon list is going to grow immensely. I'm going to have to wait for the best deal on all of these items!

Getting Ready For A Baby Shower

I'm getting ready for a good friend's baby shower. We are having it at my house/my parent's house. She's a good friend from church. I'm excited because of course they deemed me the girl to help with the food! Oh yeah! I'm making a cake... Not just any cake. It's a classic white cake with raspberry filling and a cream cheese frosting! I dyed the cake yellow and will dye the frosting green! This is fun... For good measure I also made cupcakes, dyed green and yellow! I hope that they turn out alright! I will have pictures later!! Hopefully of the shower as well!

I have many summer goals... But I would like share them one by one...

First Summer Goal - Read 25 Books

Alright, I know that's a lofty goal and I only just finished book numero 1, but I thought, why not... So, from June 1 - Sept 1, I am going to try and read 25 Books!!

Instead of creating this massive reading list that I always mega fail on... I'm just going to read as much as possible. If I don't like the book, that's ok, I'll just put it down and read another. Then I won't get stuck in a reading rut!

I just finished LA CANDY by Lauren Conrad... It's my silly teen read for the month. It was actually very captivating. I want to read the second book!!

Why did I choose a crochet blanket? I have two very old ones in my house made by my great grandmother or her sister. I'm hoping to in turn learn how to make some of my own. I think blankets have so much love attached to them. They comfort whether you're tired, sick, cold, lonely. They also are great to use for tents and gifts. I could go on... but in essence handmade blankets are pretty awesome!

Memorial Day - First Day of "Summer"

For me, Memorial Day marks the first day of summer! I've already had a great weekend and I ended this weekend with a bang. "Thor" in 3D. Not the best movie, but great company! My best friend Tone and I went to go see it. I'm so glad that I was able to go to a movie this afternoon, since my morning was spent sorting, cleaning, straightening, and organizing my room.

I ate way too much popcorn, but the ICEE was great. The first non-vegan fare I've consumed all day!

What are you doing for MEMORIAL DAY? Does this mark for you the "first day of summer"?

I even devoted a whole shelf on my one of my three bookcases to books I haven't yet read. It's going to be a great busy summer!

Now, I get to spend my evening serving people greek food. Hopefully, The Parthenon is busy tonight.

What I Did Today

I had a blast today! I got to spend some much needed time with my friend Angel! She rocks btdubs!

We hung out at cafe indigo/indigo bridge books. I love that place. We ate soup and had bread and talked and read... and snuck out (left our stuff) and went to a local vintage store! I wanted all the old nancy drew books, jadite, and pyrex items there! Too bad I have no spending money!!!

Then, I got to spend some quality time carting my sister around town taking her to her various lessons. We even made a trip to the local library after dinner.

I read, I cleaned, I listed. I'm in the process of creating a master list of everything under the sun I need to do! It's ridiculous how things creep up on you when you haven't written them down! This master list is going to be massive!

I work tomorrow and Friday at AE and my last Saturday shift at The Parthenon this week! I have a bachelorette party this Friday... We're going to see Bridesmaids. I'm super pumped! I also have a free movie pass... So, it's cheaper on me. Another exciting thing on Friday: PAY DAY!! I hope it's at least 100 bucks between the two places... I'm low on funds and I need to replenish... So I can get an awesome gift for the wedding girl... Yes, I did just say that!

My sister and I went to visit a local "shopping mall" because I wanted to see what The Yarn Shop was all about. Since I'm all about local and I'm wanting to expand my knowledge of knitting and crocheting we took a quick peep. This is an excellent place to start. Much better selection then any Joann's, Michael's, or even Hobby Lobby. There was also a store called Pages in Time, it was an amazing Scrapbooking store. I'm not a scrapbooker, but I saw a lot of neat things that would lay nicely in a journal!! But wait, there's more! There was a third store that caught our eye Sew Creative! It was a sewing/vacuum repair store! If I hadn't thought to look, that Sutter Place Mall would still be a mystery. We also drove to The Quilted Kitty upon my sister's request, but it was closed. I've been there once with my mother, and we loved it. I'm excited to share it with my sister! I see a lot of those projects milling in my head. I better get busy actually doing them, instead of milling them about.

If the camera phone was working on my phone, we would have had a lot of lovely photos to accompany this post... But that story is for another post!

Summary: Alright, I've read only 7 out of 100 books on this list (technically 11 if you count all the harry potter books separately, but then the list would be longer than 100). And I want to read 36 out of the 100 (93). That's not that daunting of a task!

I had originally decided to make a list of books I wanted to read for the summer. But, I think I'm going to go with a more organic approach. Give myself a goal of 25 books and pick and choose. Because, sometimes I really am not in the mood for a book on the list, or it is just awful... But, I will have a wish list of books I would like to conquer in the year of 2011! Stay tuned!

Queen of Unfinished Projects

This title holds true for me... And I'm sick of it!

I have unfinished projects all around my room, or saved to my laptop...

So, this summer, I've decided to finish those started projects or to lay them to rest...

This also means my blog. This past winter I had so many awesome ideas that never came into fruition...

I'm ready to commit!! So my features are coming back and maybe some new stuff...

This is the SUMMER OF UNFINISHED PROJECTS! This needed to happen...

Why is when I'm content and completely happy and not looking, I get totally shaken and disappointed... Here's the deal... I'm not interested... I have way too many goals in my life to be distracted.

I thought it would be muy expensivo... Turns out it's not that bad. I'll spend about $1000 on all my trips this year to visit Grad Schools this year. Let's hope the plane ticket prices stay down, and that I find some great deals!

So far, Denver nor Nashville did not have any TESOL programs. But, that's alright. That just means I will have to find a time to visit those places another time. There are some awesome schools listed in the cities above. I'm still researching schools in New York and maybe I'm narrowing my options. But, I do want to be in a more metropolitan area. And all of these cities would be a great place to study!
